ADCO's agricultural division expands partnership with international buyers, targeting export of premium Somali bananas to European markets.

MOGADISHU, Somalia – SOMBANA, the agricultural division of ADCO Group, has announced a major expansion of its banana export program, targeting new markets in Europe and the Middle East.

The initiative builds on SOMBANA's long-standing partnership with DOLE Fresh Fruits, which began in 1993, and introduces new varieties of Somali bananas to international consumers.

"Somalia produces some of the finest bananas in the world," said the SOMBANA Division Manager. "Our new export initiative will bring these premium fruits to more customers globally, supporting local farmers and contributing to Somalia's economic recovery."

The program includes enhanced quality control measures, cold chain logistics improvements, and sustainable farming practices. SOMBANA has also invested in new packaging facilities at Mogadishu Port to ensure product freshness during transit.

Initial shipments are scheduled for Q3 2024, with plans to export over 10,000 metric tons of bananas annually within two years.
