New mining venture targets high-grade lithium deposits to supply the growing electric vehicle battery market.

HARGEISA, Somaliland – ADCO Group has announced the launch of a major lithium exploration project in northern Somalia, targeting high-grade deposits essential for electric vehicle battery production.

The project, in partnership with international mining experts, involves comprehensive geological surveys, geochemical analysis, and exploratory drilling across 500 square kilometers of promising terrain.

"Lithium is the new oil of the 21st century," said Mohamed Abdullahi, Group CEO. "This project positions ADCO Group at the forefront of the global energy transition and creates significant economic opportunities for Somalia."

The global lithium market is expected to grow to over $10 billion by 2028, driven by increasing demand for electric vehicles and renewable energy storage. ADCO Group aims to become a major supplier to battery manufacturers in Europe and Asia.

The exploration phase is expected to take 12-18 months, with production potentially commencing in 2026. The project is expected to create over 200 direct jobs and generate significant revenue for local communities.
