Our Commitment to Community

As a corporate citizen of the world, ADCO Group of Companies has a responsibility to give back to the community that accounts for its clients and customers.

The United Nations has ranked Somalia among countries with challenging living conditions. Through its own initiative, ADCO has been involved in different projects that have included conflict resolution, provision of education, and easing access to clean water.

Water Wells & Engineering

Between 1990 and 2020, ADCO has dug 89 wells across Somalia. Through its own initiative, ADCO initiated a new model of dealing with water access by making the communities have ownership of these wells.

This innovative model has now been adapted by the United Nations. In addition, ADCO provides technical assistance to the communities by supplying spare parts when the pumps are damaged, ensuring sustainable access to clean water.

Education & School Programs

As Somalia's civil strife continued, the lives of many children and youth were affected as schools were destroyed. As a business leader, ADCO took the initiative and built an elementary school in the Lower Shebelle region.

Today, about 400 pupils attend this school, with ADCO paying the salaries of all the teachers. The school provides quality education to children who would otherwise have limited access to learning opportunities.

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."

Orphanage Support

Orphanage Support

ADCO, together with other donors, is supporting a children's orphanage in the Mudug region which takes care of 220 children by providing shelter and education tuition fees.

In the same vein of helping the youth, ADCO gives monthly social benefits such as financial support to poor families to avoid having them take their children out of school and into child labor situations.

Youth Soccer Program

Youth Sports Programs

Sport for children and youth fosters development and strengthens education. ADCO Group established a youth sports soccer team to use sports tournaments and other extracurricular activities that help the youth stay away from bad vices, joining militias, and piracy.

The Mogadishu Youth Sports Club now has a local football team that plays in the Somali Football League.

The objective was to fill the void for young people in the world's most troubled communities, drawing upon the power of sport to instill tolerance, respect, and understanding.
